The 178B2022 is an AC drive from Danfoss in the VLT 6000 HVAC Drives series. It is intended for ventilation, pumping, and other building-service applications where motor speed is adjusted to match system demand instead of running at a fixed rate. In heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems, that control method helps fans and pumps respond smoothly to changing load conditions throughout the day. The drive is therefore suited to installations that need steady speed regulation, reduced mechanical stress during startup, and flexible control of airflow or fluid movement.

The drive operates from a three-phase supply range of 380-460 VAC. At the output, it is rated for 5.5 kW, which corresponds to 7.5 HP for motor applications in this size class. Its Compact IP 20 enclosure requires cabinet installation, but the smaller housing helps conserve panel space in crowded control assemblies. The unit is supplied without an LCP, so local parameter entry requires a separate keypad or another external control method. The power board has no coating, so it is best used in clean indoor locations rather than in corrosive or contamination-heavy environments. Communication and application expansion are not installed, so control is handled through hardwired inputs and outputs or by external interface equipment when needed.
