The 178B2009 is a three-phase AC drive manufactured by Danfoss and supplied within the VLT 6000 HVAC Drives series. The unit regulates motor speed for induction motors used in air-handling units, chillers, and pump groups in industrial automation. It lets connected equipment match flow to demand instead of running only at full speed. Variable-speed control can reduce sudden starts and help limit electrical and mechanical stress during normal operation.

Electrical compatibility starts with an input range of 380-460 VAC, covering typical mains supplies in commercial facilities. Inside this window, the inverter delivers up to 5.5 kW or 7.5 HP of shaft power, which is suitable for medium-sized fans or circulation pumps. The enclosure uses a slim Bookstyle housing with IP 20 protection, so it can be installed edgewise in densely populated control panels while still providing finger-safe access. This narrow format is useful where several drives must fit in the same cabinet section. Because the drive is shipped with the lack of an LCP, local parameter entry and status viewing must be handled through a remote keypad or through the front communication port. Conducted emissions are limited by an integrated Class A1 and B filter, so the cabinet can meet EMC limits without external line chokes when motor cable length stays within the published range.

The programming profile is dedicated to HVAC duty, so the control behavior is suited to fans, pumps, and similar building service loads. The drive is supplied as a standard unit, and the printed circuit boards have no coating, so moisture protection depends on the enclosure and cabinet environment. It is therefore best placed in indoor installations where the surrounding air is controlled and where compact drive mounting is important. This arrangement works well in mechanical rooms that need reliable motor speed regulation without adding extra panel depth.
