As a variable-frequency inverter, it adjusts induction motor speed so that fans, pumps, or compressors match actual airflow or pressure requirements. By reducing motor frequency instead of relying on mechanical throttling, the unit lowers energy use while maintaining stable operating conditions in building automation systems. This operating method is well suited for air-handling equipment and pumping systems that benefit from variable-speed control during changing demand.

The drive accepts a three-phase supply in the 380-460 VAC range and delivers a shaft output of 4.0 kW/5.0 HP. Within this operating range, the control section modulates carrier frequency to maintain torque across common HVAC loads without unnecessary derating. Its book-style IP20 housing suits crowded control panels where basic ingress protection is sufficient, and integral temperature monitoring helps protect internal components if airflow is restricted. Conducted emissions are limited by an integrated Class A1 and B filter, which supports use on public low-voltage networks without external RFI accessories. The unit is supplied without an LCP, so parameter access must be provided by a remote keypad or through the FC-protocol port.

Dedicated to HVAC service, the drive includes predefined control macros for variable-torque fan and pump applications. There are no options for the application accessory slot. The electronics are built as a standard unit, and every critical PCB is produced with no coating, which helps heat dissipation but makes the unit less suitable for corrosive atmospheres. The thermal design relies on ambient panel airflow, while communication expansion is omitted and the fieldbus position is covered with a blank plate. All control terminal blocks remain accessible from the front, which makes wiring checks and routine access easier after installation.
