The 175Z7034 variable frequency drive is built by Danfoss within the VLT 6000 HVAC Drives series. It serves as a motor speed controller in building-service automation, matching airflow or water flow to real-time demand in ventilation, chilled-water, and heating circuits. By adjusting motor frequency instead of relying on mechanical throttling, the unit can reduce electrical consumption and equipment wear during continuous operation in large commercial installations. This approach also allows the connected motor to respond more smoothly to changing load conditions in systems that often run for long periods at partial demand.
The drive accepts 380-460 VAC three-phase input, a span that covers standard 400 V distribution networks used in mechanical rooms. Its output is rated at 37 kW, which corresponds to 50 HP, allowing it to control medium-sized fan arrays or primary pumps. An integral Class A1 and B filter limits conducted radio-frequency emission, and the housing uses a compact IP 20 enclosure for panel mounting inside conditioned switchboards. Operators configure parameters through a detachable LCP keypad that displays speed, current, and fault codes on site. As a standard unit, it is supplied without preinstalled fieldbus cards, so serial or Ethernet communication can be added later through optional plug-ins. Its panel-mounted form is intended for installation inside protected electrical enclosures rather than in open areas.
The controller is intended for HVAC applications, so its setup centers on ventilation, heating, and chilled-water service. The unit has no protective coating, which means it should be installed in cabinets free of corrosive vapors or high humidity. It supports standard analog inputs, digital start-stop signals, and relay outputs for straightforward connection to building management systems. These control connections support common supervisory control methods used with fans, pumps, and air-handling units. The drive can therefore respond to routine speed references and status commands without requiring additional interface hardware for basic operation.
