The 176F0556 is a variable-frequency drive produced by Danfoss and assigned to the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. As a process drive, it modulates the output frequency delivered to three-phase induction motors, permitting closed-loop speed and torque control in pumps, blowers, and material-handling equipment. This arrangement lets the controller respond to changing load conditions without forcing the motor to run at one fixed speed. It is suited to installations where steady regulation, adjustable acceleration, and process-oriented motor control are more important than simple across-the-line operation.

The converter accepts a 380-500 V three-phase supply, and its three-phase input keeps current balanced across the incoming lines. An internal process control card performs proportional-integral regulation of motor speed, while the front display allows local access to setpoints and diagnostic information without adding external control hardware. Under constant-torque duty, the drive can deliver 30 kW with 110 percent overload, while applications that require 160 percent peak torque should be sized to 22 kW of continuous output. The unit is housed in a Compact NEMA 1 enclosure intended for indoor panel installation.

The housing measures 700 mm in height, 242 mm in width, and 260 mm in depth, so panel layouts can account for cable routing and service clearance around the heat sink. The unit is supplied in standard form without an application option, and the printed circuit boards are uncoated. Fieldbus communication is not included, so control signals must be handled through discrete or analog connections. Its RFI filter status is no specified RFI filter, so external suppression may be needed where additional emission control is required.
