The 175H7040 variable speed drive is manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT 3000 Variable Speed Drives series. The unit converts fixed-frequency mains power into an adjustable output so an AC motor can match real-time load demands instead of running at full speed. By providing closed-loop speed and torque regulation, it supports energy-efficient operation in automated conveyors, HVAC fans, and other industrial processes that require continuous yet flexible motion.

A fan-assisted cooling system moves air across the heat sink to keep component temperatures within limits during heavy switching cycles. The enclosure is rated at IP21, blocking accidental finger contact and resisting vertically falling water drops for safe use inside general-purpose panels. Adding the auxiliary fan raises the overall height by 30 mm, a clearance that must be planned when retrofitting equipment bays. Because the drive tolerates just 0 mm of side clearance, multiple units can mount directly adjacent without derating; however, vertical airflow requires at least 100 mm of free space above and below. All terminals and display elements are arranged for vertical installation, aligning cable entry with the cooling path and simplifying wireway design.

Mechanical attachment uses fixed mounting points. The distance between the upper and lower mounting holes is 330 mm, while the horizontal center spacing is 258 mm; these fixed intervals allow enclosure backplates to be drilled before the drive is delivered. Each hole accepts hardware up to 14.5 mm in diameter, creating a rigid connection that withstands vibration common in production environments. The unit is intended for a flat surface and carries a NEMA Type 1 designation, making it suitable for indoor enclosures that shield live parts yet remain accessible for routine inspection.
