The 178B5029 low-voltage AC drive is produced by Danfoss and belongs to the VLT 2800 Low Voltage Drives series. As a variable-frequency controller, the unit regulates three-phase induction motors used in continuous-duty process equipment. The drive delivers a nominal output of 3.0 kW, which is equivalent to 4.0 HP for medium-duty motor applications. It accepts an input of 380-480 V ±10% at 50/60 Hz, so it can be connected to common industrial mains. The unit requires a three-phase supply for normal operation. The electronics are protected by an IP20 enclosure barrier, which helps prevent accidental contact with internal parts while allowing ventilated cabinet mounting. The drive is intended for process applications, and the standard hardware setup supports continuous torque control. No application option is installed, leaving the terminal strip available for user-defined I/O.

The enclosure uses a Bookstyle format, giving the heat sink a tall, narrow footprint that fits beside similar drives in a control cabinet. A built-in display (SLCP) shows speed, current, and alarm codes without an external keypad, making local status checks easier in tight panels. The display can present operating values directly at the drive face, which supports routine monitoring during panel operation. The circuit boards are supplied with a protective coating, which adds resistance to moisture and dust when the surrounding cabinet is not sealed. No fieldbus option is fitted, so control relies on hard-wired analog or digital signals. The RFI section is supplied without an RFI filter, so external suppression may be needed where conducted-emission control is required.
