The 178B1390 is a low-voltage AC drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT 2800 Low Voltage Drives series. It is intended for compact speed control of small motors in process lines where panel space is limited. This makes it suitable for low-power duties that still need adjustable speed and repeatable operation. Its default parameter set favors constant-torque duties, allowing metering pumps, light conveyors, and mixers to maintain stable throughput without oversizing supporting equipment.

Electrical integration is straightforward because the drive accepts 200-240 V AC on a single-phase supply, eliminating the need for three-phase service in light-duty areas. Internally, the converter adjusts frequency and voltage to support a continuous mechanical output of 0.55 kW. This corresponds to a rated motor power of 0.75 HP, allowing direct pairing with small motors. The enclosure has an IP20 rating, so finger contact is prevented, but the drive should be installed in a suitable cabinet to limit exposure to dust and other airborne contaminants. The standard control configuration includes basic control terminals, relay outputs, and analog references without optional expansion cards.

Mechanical layout follows the Bookstyle format, so multiple drives can mount side by side while maintaining airflow through the heat sink channels. Parameter access is provided by the factory-installed built-in display (SLCP), which shows the set point, output frequency, and alarm codes without requiring external setup tools. The local display also simplifies routine status checks at the cabinet door. The power electronics are supplied without coating, so the drive is best suited to clean, noncorrosive atmospheres. The unit has no application option, so it ships without dedicated pump, HVAC, or positioning macros.
