The 131Z8831 is an adjustable-frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT 2800 Low Voltage Drives series. The device interfaces with process equipment that requires precise speed regulation of induction motors. By converting fixed mains power to a variable frequency output, the drive permits variable-speed control of pumps, mixers, and other continuous-duty loads common in manufacturing and utility services. This lets the motor output follow changing process demands more closely during operation while maintaining stable speed across typical industrial loads.

The drive is rated at 1.5 kW, equivalent to 2.0 HP, allowing it to run medium-sized pumps and fans. The power section accepts a line supply of 380-480 V ±10% at 50/60 Hz from a three-phase network, so wiring can be taken directly from typical plant distribution panels. Protection against accidental contact is classified as IP20, so the unit must be mounted inside a panel. An internal brake chopper is included, enabling controlled deceleration when a suitable brake resistor is fitted. Because no application option card is installed, parameter settings are entered through the normal menu structure, and the unit is supplied without a fieldbus option for remote networking.

The slim book-style housing conserves cabinet space and positions power terminals on one edge for straightforward stacking with other units in the series. A polyurethane conformal layer is applied to the control board, noted as a protective coating, to improve durability in atmospheres where condensation or airborne contaminants are present. The drive is configured and monitored by means of the built-in display (SLCP), which presents speed, status, and fault codes without external tools. For electromagnetic compliance in process environments, the factory-fitted RFI filter meets EN 55011 Class A1, minimizing conducted noise on the supply bus.
