Mounted close to the motor, it provides variable-speed control for conveyors, mixers, and other material-handling equipment in automated lines. This placement shortens motor cable runs, reduces the need for large control cabinets, and helps the drive deliver regulated torque directly at the machine. It also supports compact machine sections where the power electronics are installed near the driven load rather than in a distant panel, which can simplify segmented machine layouts.

The housing has an IP66 rating, so it resists washdown and airborne dust without a separate enclosure. Internally, a three-phase supply of 3 x 380 to 480 V is rectified and modulated to produce an adjustable output for the connected motor. The inverter section supports motors up to 0.55 kW, which corresponds to 0.75 HP. To reduce conducted emissions, the unit includes an integral 1A filter for typical industrial EMC requirements. Standard coating and standard hardware are used, and the enclosed design supports installation directly on machinery where space is limited. The unit comes without a fieldbus, so control is handled locally or through hardwired I/O connections. The front cover is supplied without a display, and parameter changes are made with a handheld keypad or a PC-based tool. Danfoss classifies the drive for Processing Application duty, which suits steady-state loads with moderate speed changes in packaging, food, and chemical equipment. It is a practical fit for simple drive tasks that do not require networked communication or an integrated operator screen, while still allowing setup and adjustment through external tools.
