The MS2M04-B0FNN-KMDL1 is a servo unit in the MS2M Ultra Compact Motors series produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. This motor is built for tightly packed automation axes where space is limited yet dynamic accuracy is critical. As a member of this ultra-compact product group, it delivers rotary motion with low rotor inertia so the drive can accelerate and decelerate quickly while maintaining precise positioning feedback through its encoder. Its electrically released holding brake lets machinery stop safely when power is cut, and the motor's natural-convection housing keeps the overall footprint small.

The brake coil is energized by 24 V DC, eliminating the need for a separate control voltage. When activated, the brake supplies 3.8 Nm of static torque to lock the shaft. The housing is rated to IP65, so the stator internals stay protected from dust and water jets during cabinet-free mounting. Position data is produced by a 23-bit optical encoder. The encoder is available in single-turn or multi-turn form and provides up to 8 million counts per revolution, which the drive electronics read over a 4.75 to 5.25 V supply interface. Heat is removed by natural convection, so no forced airflow is required for operation in enclosed machine frames at ambient temperatures from 0 to 40 °C. The windings use thermal class 155(F), permitting continuous copper temperatures up to 155 °C before insulation aging accelerates.

Signal and power are routed through M17 quick lock SPEEDCON connectors, which support secure cable attachment in multi-axis gantries. During operation, airborne noise does not exceed 65 dB(A), which supports placement near human work areas. The stator uses five pole pairs with frame size 4 and frame length B. It also uses a winding rated for 3000 rpm, which balances torque density with speed. A double cable metal lead set protects the conductors, and the keyed shaft is supplied without a sealing ring to simplify coupling alignment.
