EL9110 by Beckhoff

The EL9110 is a power distribution terminal produced by Beckhoff as part of the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. In a modular I/O station, the unit routes the field supply through the power contacts to subsequent terminals while the EtherCAT backplane carries data between the connected modules. The terminal combines power feed-in, fuse monitoring, and status indication in a housing that is only 12 mm wide. This compact format reduces the amount of space and wiring required inside distributed control cabinets and other industrial automation enclosures.

Designed for low-voltage control circuits, the terminal operates with a nominal supply of 24 V DC and provides an additional power contact that can pass up to 10 A to downstream terminals. Galvanic separation between the field supply and the EtherCAT logic side is rated at 500 V. Typical E-bus current consumption is 90 mA, which must be included when calculating the total current demand of the terminal station. The terminal supports a new power infeed after field-side fusing and incorporates a protective earth contact for functional grounding. It has no electrical connection to the DIN rail, allowing the grounding path to be established through the intended terminal contacts. A front-mounted power LED indicates the presence of voltage, while integrated diagnostics report short circuits or overloads to the controller. The housing has an IP20 protection rating for installation inside a suitable control cabinet.

The terminal snaps onto a 35 mm mounting rail and aligns with adjacent EtherCAT terminals without requiring a separate mounting adapter. It can operate at up to 95% relative humidity, provided that condensation does not occur. Its process interface occupies 1 bit, allowing the PLC to monitor the fuse state with minimal process-image usage. The slim housing follows the profile of surrounding I/O modules, making it possible to install power feed terminals, digital input terminals, and analog terminals on the same rail. Consistent terminal coding also helps prevent incorrect placement when modules are assembled within the station.
