AMI8124-3001-0J10 by Beckhoff

The AMI8124-3001-0J10 is a compact integrated servo drive produced by Beckhoff for the AMI Integrated Drive Motors series. By combining a synchronous motor, power electronics, and fieldbus connectivity inside a 58 mm frame, the device reduces wiring requirements and conserves cabinet space in distributed automation layouts. It is intended to move lightweight rotary loads with precise positioning inside machines that rely on fast, networked motion commands.

Motion commands reach the unit over the EtherCAT interface and are interpreted according to the MDP profile for consistent parameter handling. A single-turn absolute encoder with 17-bit resolution supplies position feedback, and absolute detection within one revolution eliminates the need for homing. The unit has an F2 flange measuring 58 mm and a smooth shaft for mechanical integration. Its rotor has 6 poles, balancing torque production and dynamic response. Copper losses are removed through convection cooling, so no external fan is necessary. The housing and shaft have an IP54 protection rating, helping prevent dust and splashed fluids from reaching internal components during operation. The motor can reach a maximum speed of 12,000 rpm, enabling high-frequency indexing when the load inertia is properly matched. Continuous operation is supported from 0 °C to +40 °C, while operation outside this temperature range requires thermal derating. The design does not include a holding brake or the TwinSAFE safety option, so required load retention and safe-torque-off functions must be provided elsewhere.

During storage and transportation, the drive withstands temperatures from -25 °C to +70 °C without functional degradation. It also tolerates ambient relative humidity from 5% to 95%, provided condensation is prevented. The winding package uses code J, which indicates electrical parameters compatible with the AMI8124 inverter stage. Direct mounting on moving machine components is possible when the installation provides adequate mechanical support. Airflow around the housing must remain unobstructed to maintain convection cooling, and the enclosure should not be exposed to conditions beyond its ingress protection capabilities.
