The AMI8123-4100-1J11 is an integrated drive motor produced by Beckhoff within the AMI Integrated Drive Motors series. It merges a servo unit, power stage, and fieldbus interface into one compact housing, allowing decentralized positioning tasks on packaging lines, small handling axes, and conveying equipment. The device attaches with an F2 (58 mm) flange that fits mid-size mechanical frames, and its all-in-one layout means installers only have to route a DC supply and a single communication cable to bring the axis online.

The motor exchanges process data over EtherCAT using the MDP profile, enabling fast synchronization with TwinCAT or other EtherCAT motion controllers. Rotor position is reported by a 17-bit multi-turn absolute encoder, so the control loop receives 131,072 discrete positions per revolution without a homing move. A built-in brake engages when 24 V DC is applied, holding the shaft in vertical or load-bearing axes during power-off states. During rapid moves the rotor may spin up to 12000 min?¹, a mechanical speed ceiling set by bearing and balancing limits. Under continuous duty the electromagnetic set delivers a peak torque of 2.38 Nm, but the thermal design rates the windings for 0.311 kW of power at the nominal operating point. That point corresponds to a rated speed of 3000 min?¹ and 0.99 Nm of shaft torque, allowing the axis to maintain precise motion in indexing or tracking applications. Electrical dynamics are influenced by a phase-to-phase inductance of 0.92 mH; this moderate value supports rapid current changes while keeping switching losses manageable. Combined with a standstill torque of 1.00 Nm and a winding resistance of 0.410 ?, these parameters define the thermal and control limits for stable long-term operation.
