AMI8123-4100-0J10 by Beckhoff

The AMI8123-4100-0J10 is a compact integrated servo drive from Beckhoff in the AMI Integrated Drive Motors series. By combining a brushless motor, drive electronics, encoder, and network node in one protective housing, the device supports cabinet-free installation close to the mechanical load. This arrangement shortens motor cables and improves noise immunity while supplying closed-loop motion for pick-and-place units, packaging axes, and other distributed automation stations.

The drive exchanges real-time process data through EtherCAT, so it mounts directly on an existing fieldbus segment without additional gateways. Position feedback is provided by a multi-turn absolute encoder with 17-bit single-turn resolution and absolute tracking across 65,536 revolutions. An F2-coded flange with a diameter of 58 mm simplifies coupling to standard gearheads, and the rotor inertia of 0.376 kgcm² supports quick acceleration in high-cycle equipment. Mechanical overspeed is limited to 12,000 rpm. Within that limit, the J-type winding uses a six-step commutation profile, while convection cooling supports continuous operation from 0 °C to 40 °C at an ambient relative humidity of 5% to 95%. The motor length index of 3 balances torque capability against housing depth, and absolute position detection eliminates the need for homing after power-up.

Functional safety is provided by TwinSAFE with integrated logic, which supplies Safe Torque Off and supports decentralized safety sequences. Both the housing and shaft have an IP54 rating for protection against limited dust ingress and water splashes. The motor has a mass of 2.05 kg, which can be used when calculating load distribution on linear carriages or rotary supports. A six-pole stator provides smooth torque at low speeds, while the smooth shaft supports direct-drive coupling. The unit can be stored at temperatures from -25 °C to 70 °C. It is supplied without a holding brake and uses an MDP application profile.
