The EEA-PAM-523-C-30 plug-in card is a power amplifier module manufactured by Vickers within the EEA-PAM Power Amplifiers series. It fits into valve driver racks and converts low-level command signals into regulated coil currents needed for proportional hydraulic valves in industrial automation systems. By managing ramp profiles and providing stabilized auxiliary outputs, the board allows a motion controller or PLC to actuate pressure or flow accurately without adding discrete analog conditioning circuits.

The card is designed for a nominal system supply of 24 V DC; operation is still possible down to 20 V DC and it tolerates surges up to 40 V DC. Supply ripple may reach 10 % p-p before affecting performance, yet an internal shutdown disables the amplifier at 18 V DC to protect connected coils. Total consumption is limited to 40 W so cabinet power budgets remain predictable. Four ramp potentiometers let users set separate up and down slopes for each polarity, and an enable input accepts logic levels above 9.8 V to gate the output stage. These limits establish the module's electrical operating range and its shutdown behavior during brownout or overvoltage conditions.

The control section sources up to 50 mA on its +15 V auxiliary line, with residual noise held below 50 mV p-p to avoid drift in external potentiometers. A separate ±10 V monitor output is filtered to under 20 mV p-p for feedback tasks. Ramp timing can be shortened to a minimum of 0.050 s for rapid valve response or stretched to a maximum of 5 s when gentle pressure changes are required; the four on-board trim pots adjust these limits independently for each quadrant. Independent adjustment in each quadrant supports different acceleration and deceleration behavior for opposite valve movements.
