The PC834-104-N is a brushless servo drive produced by Pacific Scientific for the PC800-PCE800 Brushless Servo Drives series. It supplies regulated current and velocity commands to matched servomotors so that automated machinery can position, index, or track loads with tight electrical control rather than mechanical gearing. Used in packaging lines, material-handling axes, and electronic assembly stations, the unit links motion profiles from a controller to the electromagnetic requirements of the motor in real time.

An analog command range of ±10 VDC lets PLCs deliver proportional speed or torque references, while the RS-232/485 command interface exchanges setup data and diagnostics. Continuous motor operation is supported by an output current of 7.1 ARMS, and short-term transients are handled by a peak current of 21.2 ARMS. The current loop updates every 62.5 µs. Combined with a loop bandwidth of 400 Hz, this update rate allows the drive to correct errors quickly and damp oscillations in high-inertia loads. Step and direction digital indexing is accepted for incremental moves, and the inputs can track command pulses without missing counts. The drive supports motors with inductance values ranging from 1.25 mH to 1 H without instability.

An output ripple carrier of 16 kHz keeps acoustic noise and torque pulsation low, and the internal resolver counter scales position to a 24-bit resolution for fine motion granularity. Motor leads may run up to 50 m, giving control cabinet layouts flexibility in drive placement. Six optically isolated inputs, three optically isolated outputs, and one relay output connect limit switches or pneumatic valves without requiring external relays. Step and direction pulse trains can be accepted at frequencies up to 800 kHz, accommodating high-speed indexing commands. One internal encoder channel relays position data to connected control equipment. The drive also maintains sufficient inductive margin to prevent cable capacitance from degrading its response.
