The OSP-U100M is a dedicated CNC monitor produced by Okuma as part of the OSP CNC Monitors series. Installed in a machine-tool control panel, it displays status messages, coordinate data, alarms, and program information so the machine state can be reviewed during automated cutting cycles. The unit handles visualization and keypad scanning, while axis control remains with the main CNC processor. Because it is limited to display and input functions, it serves as the interface layer rather than the motion-control element of the CNC system.

Its power section accepts 200 V AC at 50/60 Hz, and the circuitry tolerates voltage variation of up to ±10% without display instability. The monitor is intended for ambient temperatures from 0 °C to 40 °C, and operation above that range can increase thermal drift. It is also intended for installation sites up to 1000 m above sea level, where natural convection remains adequate for the enclosure. During accuracy checks, the display is evaluated at 17 °C to 25 °C with relative humidity from 40% to 75% RH so color and geometry can be measured under controlled conditions. In normal service, the unit can operate with ambient humidity from 30% to 95% RH, which supports use near coolant mist and other damp shop-floor conditions.

For controller connection, the unit provides 4 (CN0-CN3) serial ports for communication with compatible CNC devices and peripherals. The factory default is 600 bps, which supports older external equipment without requiring immediate interface changes. When faster data exchange is needed, the communication rate can be increased to 19200 bps. A ready-wait timer can be set as high as 9999 seconds so slower devices can complete transfers before the CNC sends new commands. This arrangement allows the monitor to work with both legacy serial hardware and devices that require a higher transfer rate.
