The BL-MC500E-15SB is a servo motor manufactured by Okuma within the BL Servo Motors series. It is intended for closed-loop positioning axes on machine tools and material-handling equipment, where the drive controls torque, speed, and position during programmed motion. The motor converts electrical power into regulated mechanical motion for repetitive acceleration and deceleration cycles. In closed-loop service, the drive continually corrects commanded motion so the axis can follow programmed position changes. Its connection to a three-phase supply network allows sinusoidal current in each stator phase. This helps produce smoother electromagnetic torque and lower harmonic losses than single-phase operation.
At its nominal operating point, the motor delivers 7.5 kW of mechanical output while drawing 32.6 A from a DC-linked inverter. The stator windings are rated for a phase-to-phase voltage of 133 V, so the matching drive and cable insulation must suit that level. At a rated electrical frequency of 133 Hz, the motor reaches a shaft speed of 1500 rpm. Because the motor completes four electrical cycles per mechanical revolution, rotor speed remains synchronized with inverter output across normal operation. Matching the inverter to these electrical values helps maintain stable current control during repeated axis movement.
The motor carries a continuous duty classification, so it can maintain nameplate output without scheduled rest periods. Its rotor uses an 8-pole layout and produces 52.5 N·m of stall torque, which supports strong holding capability at zero speed and steady torque at low speed. High stall torque is useful when the axis must resist load at zero speed before accelerating again. The magnetic circuit uses a permanent-magnet structure, eliminating the need for external excitation and improving efficiency. This pole count keeps synchronous speed moderate at the rated frequency, which can help limit bearing wear in long-term service. Design and insulation clearances comply with IEC 34 for consistent performance across global installations.
