The Kollmorgen MMC-A2 PLUS drive is part of the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series, engineered by Kollmorgen for advanced motion control in industrial automation. This smart drive features an input voltage range of 20–30 VDC (24 V nominal) and 256 KB application memory, enabling robust motion and I/O control. Capable of supporting up to 18 servo axes at 8 ms update rates, the MMC-A2 PLUS delivers precise coordination and high responsiveness for complex multi-axis systems.

Incorporating a 32-bit RISC processor with numeric coprocessor, the MMC-A2 PLUS ensures high-speed trajectory computation and real-time control. It offers 128 KB RAM and 64 KB user memory, alongside a 2 MB flash disk for non-volatile data storage. The drive’s axis handling scales from 18 axes at 8 ms or 4 ms update rates down to 1 axis at 0.25 ms, accommodating varied performance requirements. Connectivity is provided via an RS232 Picpro port (up to 57.6 Kbps) and a user port supporting RS232/RS485 with RTS/CTS (up to 19.2 Kbps). I/O interfaces include two analog outputs, one analog input, three encoder inputs, sixteen general DC inputs, sixteen general DC outputs, and six AUX I/O channels for expanded functionality.

Designed for industrial durability, the MMC-A2 PLUS operates across an ambient range of 5°C to 55°C (storage: –40°C to 85°C) and tolerates 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity. It draws 450 mA input current plus I/O and expansion power and maintains data integrity via a 3 V coin cell battery (BR2032) backup. Real-time clock accuracy of ±1 s/day at 25°C supports precise process synchronization. Compliance with EN50081-2/EN50082-2/EN61131-2 EMC standards and UL and C-UL Listed E126417 safety listings ensures regulatory adherence. With its compact footprint, versatile I/O and robust processing, the MMC-A2 PLUS enhances system efficiency, scalability, and reliability in demanding automation applications.
