The AKM54L-ACC2R-01 is a synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. In industrial automation, the unit converts commanded current from a drive into controlled mechanical torque and position, enabling coordinated motion on packaging lines and indexing stations. Its mechanical interface follows IEC flange conventions, allowing direct mounting to gearheads while maintaining alignment. The design supports closed-loop operation with integrated resolver feedback for continuous position verification. It is well suited to axes that require controlled acceleration, positioning accuracy, and stable holding behavior between motion cycles.

The motor includes a holding brake that resists up to 14.5 N-m of static load so vertical axes remain stationary when power is removed. This brake adds 0.0000173 kg-m² of inertia, a value used in acceleration calculations. It lengthens the housing by 45 mm and increases mass by 1.1 kg, which affects mounting clearance and moving load response. A 24 V circuit energizes the brake through the power connector, while control and resolver lines are routed through 2 SpeedTec Ready connectors set at 90 degrees for tool-free locking. A 12-pin socket carries resolver, commutation, and thermal signals. This connector arrangement keeps the electrical interfaces compact around the motor body.

The motor has a frame width of 108 mm, and the stator uses 10 poles with Kollmorgen's L winding designation to balance torque with moderate current. The keyed shaft measures 24 mm in diameter and extends 50 mm beyond the flange for coupling, and a shaft seal limits particulate ingress at this interface. Resolver feedback is single-turn and inductive with two electrical poles in Size 10/15/21 format, providing absolute position within each revolution. The motor uses an IEC flange with accuracy grade N, and rotor length index 4 indicates the active stack height used for this model. The front geometry also supports standard mounting relationships with flanges, couplings, and gearbox inputs.
