The 07.17.670-940U is a spring-set brake manufactured by KEB as part of the Combistop Spring Brakes series. Intended for industrial automation, it applies mechanical holding torque whenever supply power is lost and releases when its DC coil is energized. This function allows material-handling conveyors, indexing tables, vertical axes, and similar machinery to maintain position without external locks. The brake mounts directly onto compatible motor end bells, which supports a compact installation and reduces the need for additional mechanical components.

During operation, the unit can exert 61.0 Nm of static holding torque while drawing only 65 W from the coil circuit. The coil is fed through an internal rectifier that converts the system's 460 VAC line voltage to the required DC excitation, so no separate converter is needed. A 100% on-time duty rating permits continuous energization without thermal derating. A properly sealed NEMA 4 enclosure protects the internal components against splashed liquids and dust. The brake fits a 213TC/215TC motor frame, allowing it to bolt onto widely used induction motors without adapters. The output hub accepts a keyed 1.375 in shaft and can support a radial load of 330 lb at rated speed. Face alignment is maintained by mounting-flange runout limited to 0.004 in TIR, while shaft runout is limited to 0.002 in TIR. These runout limits help maintain a uniform air gap around the friction disc, reducing uneven contact and excessive wear during repeated engagement.
