It serves as an energy-dump device that converts the kinetic energy returned by a decelerating motor into heat, keeping the DC bus of the associated drive within safe voltage limits. The unit is supplied as a single module and mounts inside a control enclosure, making it suitable for conveyors, lifts, and indexing applications that require frequent rapid stops.

The resistor offers a continuous dissipation capacity of 82 W, meaning it can absorb that thermal load indefinitely without exceeding its temperature class. Its resistance value is 100 Ω, which matches KEB brake chopper circuitry and produces the required current profile during dynamic braking events. For short duty cycles, it withstands a peak power of 1500 W for 6 s, giving the drive additional capacity for emergency braking or high-inertia deceleration. Wiring uses a 2.5 mm² conductor, equivalent to AWG 14, which keeps connection losses low and allows the cabling to carry the calculated RMS current. The device has a 230 V voltage rating, so its insulation distances and component spacing are suitable for common low-voltage industrial power systems.

Thermal protection is provided by an embedded switch that trips at 160 °C.
