The 176F3160 is a gate-drive accessory card produced by Danfoss for variable-frequency drive platforms in the VLT series. Installed inside a drive stack, this printed circuit board transfers low-voltage controller commands to the insulated-gate bipolar transistors in the main inverter stage. It delivers isolated gate signals and returns fault feedback so the host drive can regulate motor speed and torque in pumping, ventilation, and conveying equipment. Because this function is isolated from the power stage, it helps protect low-voltage control electronics from switching noise generated during inverter operation. The card serves as an internal interface between the control section and the power semiconductors rather than as a current-carrying output module.
This model is identified as a Gate Drive Card, which means its main task is to shape and time gate commands instead of handling motor current directly. It is qualified for inverter frames up to 315 kW, and the minimum compatible drive rating is 110 kW. A voltage class of 400 V matches the insulation spacing, optocoupler margins, and PCB creepage distances used in common 380 to 480 V three-phase installations. Despite supporting high-power modules, the assembly weighs only 0.3 kg, which helps reduce mechanical load on edge connectors and mounting points. That low mass also makes the board easier to position correctly inside compact drive assemblies where several control and power sections are installed close together.
The packed volume of 4.793 dm³ allows the board to fit into compact drive enclosures without crowding adjacent cooling paths. This also supports orderly airflow around nearby heat sinks and neighboring boards inside compact assemblies. Support is available through DrivePro Services for maintenance planning and product support over the operating life of the drive. Integration with the VLT Control Cards architecture keeps the connector layout consistent within compatible platforms, which helps installation remain straightforward. Reliable gate-trigger communication is important because interruptions at this interface can stop the inverter stage and bring connected production equipment to a halt.
