XFE01.1-FB-11 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The XFE01.1-FB-11 is a communication expansion produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the XM21 IndraControl Systems series. Installed in a controller rack, the module equips an automation station with a PROFIBUS DP interface so that sensors, drives, and distributed I/O can be addressed on a deterministic fieldbus. By translating internal system data to standard PROFIBUS telegrams, it supports coordinated machine sequences and real-time process monitoring in automated equipment.

The electronics draw a nominal 24 VDC supply that complies with PELV/SELV control-cabinet guidelines. Under maximum load, the input is limited to 0.2 A, producing a peak dissipation of 4.8 W, which simplifies heat planning inside densely packed panels. Protection against accidental contact is classified as IP20, so the unit must be mounted in an enclosed housing but does not require additional gasketing. Power is routed through an XD1 4-pin plug, and wiring up to 1.5 mm² (AWG 16) can be landed without ferrules. A diode provides reverse-voltage blocking, while an internal 4 A fuse isolates the upstream circuit during overcurrent events. The electronics ride through supply interruptions of 10 ms, preventing fieldbus timeouts during brief dips caused by inductive loads.

Field communication is handled over PROFIBUS DP, allowing the controller to exchange cyclic and acyclic data with decentralized devices on a single two-wire trunk. The bus lines terminate on a D-Sub 9-pin female connector located beside the power header, which streamlines daisy-chain topology without additional adapters. The module adds just 0.18 kg to the DIN rail, so compact enclosures can support multiple interface cards without placing much mechanical load on the mounting hardware. This layout also keeps the interface area compact and leaves neighboring rack positions easier to wire and service.
