The XFE01.1-FB-04 is a communication module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the XM21 IndraControl Systems series. Installed beside the primary controller, it provides network access for industrial automation equipment by supporting PROFINET and EtherNet/IP protocols. When mounted inside a control cabinet, the device links field devices with higher-level controllers so data can move reliably between drives, sensors, and operator stations. Its role is to extend the control platform with Ethernet-based communication while keeping the module footprint suitable for cabinet installation.

This module operates from a nominal supply of 24 V DC, allowing it to share the standard low-voltage rail used by other IndraControl components. During continuous duty, the electronics draw 0.2 A, and the resulting power demand is 4.8 W, which helps with supply sizing and thermal planning inside the enclosure. An internal protective fuse rated at 4 A helps protect the circuitry during short-term overload conditions. For electrical isolation between the fieldbus interface and the system backplane, the barrier between terminals Xf40 and Xf41 withstands 1200 V DC for one minute, which helps limit the transfer of transient voltage into the rest of the system.

Network connections are provided through 2 RJ45 ports, which allow redundant layouts or separate machine and service connections. The housing is rated IP20, so it has finger-safe construction and is intended for use inside an enclosed panel rather than in exposed locations. Reliable operation is permitted at temperatures up to 60 °C, and the electronics remain functional down to -25 °C, which supports startup in unheated facilities. The module also tolerates 95% noncondensing humidity, includes diode-based reverse-polarity protection, and weighs 0.17 kg for light DIN-rail loading.
