The XFE01.1-FB-01 is a communication module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the XM21 IndraControl Systems series. Installed alongside the controller, it functions as a master interface that links drives, I/O stations, and safety devices inside an automation cell. By acting as a Sercos III master, the module coordinates cyclic data exchange so that motion axes and process signals remain synchronized with the PLC program.

The module communicates over a Sercos III Master fieldbus, providing deterministic telegram timing that supports real-time drive control. Electrical supply is taken from the controller backplane at a rated 24 V DC, so the unit can share the same PELV/SELV source as neighboring slices. When active, total dissipation tops out at 4.8 W, a figure low enough to avoid forced cooling in standard cabinets. Mounting is performed on a TH 35-7.5 rail, so the module can be inserted or removed without tools. The housing carries an IP20 degree of protection, which limits exposure to fingers and solid objects larger than 12.5 mm but requires installation inside an enclosure for higher ingress demands.

An internal fuse rated at 4 A isolates the slice if an overcurrent occurs, while reverse polarity is blocked by a diode to prevent supply damage during wiring. Signal paths between connectors XF3 and XF4 withstand 1200 V DC (1 min) of isolation, allowing safe separation from external networks. The electronics stay operational through 10 ms supply dips, and normal logic draws only 0.2 A at nominal voltage, leaving power headroom for adjacent modules. For mechanical stresses, the printed-circuit assembly endures shocks up to 30 g (11 ms) during transport or machine impact. Despite these protections, overall mass is 0.120 kg, which minimizes load on the DIN rail and permits dense stacking of multiple fieldbus or I/O units.
