VT 1600-S-2X by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The VT 1600-S-2X is a plug-in servo amplifier card manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the VT 1600 Servo Amplifiers series. Intended for proportional valve control in hydraulic automation, the board converts low-level command voltages from a PLC into regulated coil current that positions the valve spool with repeatable accuracy. Its Eurocard footprint allows direct insertion into a 19-inch rack, so motion channels can be added or replaced without rewiring entire cabinets.

The board measures 100 × 160 mm, matching standard DIN 41494 card guides and promoting uniform airflow between adjacent modules. Commands, feedback signals, and supply lines terminate on a 32-pin plug, simplifying removal during service while maintaining the correct pin allocation. The built-in oscillator superimposes a dither signal at 340 Hz; this high-frequency modulation lowers static friction in valve sleeves and improves position repeatability. The output stages are jumper-selectable for ±60 mA or ±100 mA, providing a choice between fine resolution and higher force based on the connected solenoid. Even under full load, the amplifier draws less than 200 mA from the cabinet's 24 V rail, allowing multiple cards to share a compact power supply without excessive current demand.

The drive winding connected to the card has a resistance of 2000 ohms, allowing the limited supply current to produce the required magnetic field without excessive heat. A narrow front plate measuring 8 HP minimizes panel width while leaving room for test jacks and three rotary trimmers that adjust the ramp, gain, and dither amplitude. The card has 3 accessible potentiometers for making these adjustments. Relay timing is limited to 1 ms, and switch currents remain below 1 mA, so the amplifier adds negligible delay to emergency-stop chains. Its mass of 0.15 kg simplifies card-cage handling and reduces shock loads on edge connectors during transport.
