The RKL4742 is a motor power cable produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the RKL Motor Power Cables series. This cable links servo drives to matching motors in automated machinery, carrying three-phase power and auxiliary control voltages while withstanding continuous motion inside cable tracks. Its construction and electrical ratings allow it to supply energy to dynamic axes without premature insulation breakdown or excessive voltage drop, supporting reliable positioning and speed control in industrial automation cells. By combining motor power and supporting circuits in one moving cable, it helps keep routing compact on servo-driven equipment.
The cable's round sheath measures 29.8 mm in outer diameter, so drag-chain carriers and gland plates can be sized accurately. Each power conductor has a cross-section of 25.0 mm², providing a low-impedance path for drive output currents. Conductor resistance is limited to 0.78 ohm/km at 20 °C; this minimizes I²R heating and keeps voltage loss within servo-drive tolerances over long runs. The power cores are rated for up to 300/500 V, enabling the same cable family to serve both low-voltage and standard servo inverter outputs. A tough PUR outer jacket resists coolants, oils, and abrasion, allowing the cable to operate in machining centers and packaging lines where chemical exposure and repeated flexing are common. The jacket also helps protect the cable where repeated travel exposes it to rubbing surfaces, lubricant mist, and general machine contamination.
Mechanical flexibility uses a fixed installation bend limit of 5xD and a dynamic bend limit of 7.5xD, so routing can follow tight radii without conductor fatigue when the cable is stationary or moving. The cable has a linear mass of 1.750 kg/m, which is useful when carrier load or unsupported travel forces are being considered. Continuous conductor temperature may reach +90 °C in fixed routing, while moving applications use a +80 °C ceiling to protect the insulation system during repeated axis travel. Separate limits for fixed and moving installation make it easier to place the cable in sections that are clamped in the cabinet and sections that travel with the machine axis.
