RKL4716 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the RKL4716, a flexible power cable in the RKL Motor Power Cables series. This assembly links a servo controller to its matched synchronous motor and carries both motor phase current and auxiliary signals in dynamic automation axes. The cable is intended for installation in cable tracks, so it supports continuous motion while protecting conductors against abrasion and fluids. By combining power, control, and protective earth paths in one jacket, it simplifies wiring inside gantries, pick-and-place modules, and other coordinated drive systems. It also helps keep moving harnesses compact because one cable carries the main motor conductors and related auxiliary circuits in a single assembly.

The conductive core arrangement uses 3x2.5 mm² + PE 2.5 mm² copper leads for the motor phases and protective earth. Four auxiliary conductors with a section of 4x1.0 mm² are included to transmit brake or sensor supply voltages without an additional harness. The overall cable diameter is 14.8 mm, which helps when selecting glands and planning cable-tray space. Its outer sheath is molded from PUR, providing resistance to cuts as well as tolerance to oil and coolant splash. The cable is rated for 5,000,000 flex cycles under standard drag-chain conditions, supporting repeated bending in high-duty positioning equipment.

In fixed routing, the static bend limit is 5xD. In moving applications, the cable must use a larger minimum bend radius of 7.5xD to reduce conductor fatigue during travel. The conductor bundle is derived from the bulk cable type INK0602, so replacement lengths can be fabricated without changing the cable's electrical behavior. A keyed motor plug coded RLK1301 is preassembled on the load end, and a matching RLS0721/K03 connector terminates the controller side. The orange jacket follows RAL 2003 for clear identification of motor lines, and strain-relief inserts molded into each connector help maintain contact stability during fast axis motion.
