RKL4712 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The RKL4712 is a motor power cable produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RKL Motor Power Cables series. It forms the energy path between an IndraDrive controller and a synchronous motor, carrying three-phase power and auxiliary conductors through a shielded flex-chain installation. Used in packaging lines, gantry axes, and other continuously moving assemblies, this cable maintains voltage integrity while tolerating millions of direction changes common in industrial automation. The shielded construction also helps limit electrical noise around moving power circuits.

The copper core bundle uses a 4 x 10.0 mm² layout with additional 2 x 1.0 mm² (StC) and 2 x 1.5 mm² (StC) conductors, separating motor phases, brake supply, and protective earth within one jacket. An outer diameter of 22.2 mm sets the required conduit clearance, while the PUR sheath provides abrasion resistance and resistance to cutting oils. Conductor resistance is limited to 1.91 ?/km, which helps reduce voltage drop on runs between the cabinet and the axis. Signal quality is supported by a line-to-shield capacitance of 1.0 nF/m. The drive side terminates in plug connector RLS0721 (K10), and the motor side routes into clamp box RLK1201, so the connection can be secured without soldering. For high-cycle service, the assembly is rated for 5,000,000 bending movements under the stated dynamic conditions.

Installation rules specify a minimum loop radius of 7.5 × D during motion, while stationary routing may tighten to 5 × D. These limits help prevent microcracks in the insulation and help preserve conductor geometry during repeated movement. Thermal endurance also changes with mounting style: when secured in place, the wire can operate up to 90 °C, while during continuous flexing the allowable conductor temperature is 80 °C.
