RKL4589 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The RKL4589 is a flexible motor power cable produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RKL Motor Power Cables series. It interconnects servo drives with motors and is intended for continuous motion installations, especially where drag-chain routing demands high mechanical endurance over repeated travel. Within an automation cell, the cable carries power and control conductors while limiting signal noise, allowing drive axes to move at rated speed and acceleration without electrical interruption.

Mechanical service life is based on a drag-chain rating of 5,000,000 bending cycles, so machine builders can plan service intervals around long production runs. Dynamic motion is further supported by a permissible acceleration of 10 m/s² and a top carrier velocity of 5 m/s, which help keep conductor stress within design limits during rapid index moves. Correct routing is maintained by minimum bend radii of 5 × D for fixed sections and 7.5 × D for moving loops, which helps prevent core fatigue. The outer sheath is molded from PUR, a matte, adhesion-free material that resists abrasion in guide channels and sheds cutting fluids. An orange RAL 2003 jacket aids visual tracing inside crowded cable trays, and the halogen-free formulation helps reduce corrosive gas emission during overheating. Because the cable is intended for drag-chain use, every conductor bundle is stranded for flexibility.

Electrically, the control pair is rated at 300 V while the power cores carry up to 600 V AC, allowing a single trunk to feed feedback electronics and motor windings. A layer of aluminum-polyester foil combined with tinned braid provides total shielding, containing electromagnetic interference that might disturb encoder signals in adjacent wiring. Combined with the sheath material, this shielding also adds mechanical strength without compromising bend performance. This cable can be routed near motor and feedback wiring in compact multi-axis machinery.
