RKL4588 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The RKL4588 cable is a motor power cable produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and assigned to the RKL Motor Power Cables series. It links servo drives to synchronous or asynchronous motors in automated machinery and carries three-phase power together with auxiliary signals in a single jacket. In plant layouts that rely on dynamic axis motion, the cable serves as the moving energy supply element while carrier chains articulate through repeated travel. This arrangement helps keep power and control conductors grouped in one assembly instead of routing separate cable runs along the same axis.

The cable has a continuous operating rating of 600 VAC, allowing the conductors to serve standard industrial mains. Its outside diameter of 29.8 mm is important when selecting strain relief components, routing clips, and connector entries. Inside the jacket, a 4x25 mm² + 2x(2x1.5 mm²) layout separates the motor power conductors, protective earth, and auxiliary pairs for orderly signal routing. Copper loss along the run is limited to 0.78 Ohm/km at 20 °C, which helps reduce voltage drop over longer travel paths. Capacitance remains at 1.1 nF/m, which helps limit reactive effects between conductors when the drive operates with pulse-width modulation.

For installation, fixed routing must respect a minimum bend radius of 5 x D, while dynamic use in energy chains requires a minimum radius of 7.5 x D. The outer sheath uses PUR (adhesion-free, matte), which helps the cable resist abrasion and reduces sticking when it slides against guides or adjacent cables. The jacket surface also sheds common shop contaminants such as oil and coolant more easily during repeated motion. Its material is halogen-free, which reduces corrosive gas emission during a fire. The orange outer finish also makes the cable easier to identify inside cabinets and along machine routing paths.
