The RKL4586 cable is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the RKL Motor Power Cables series. It is a shielded power cable that links servo drives to their motors in industrial automation systems, delivering main phase current while also carrying auxiliary control pairs. Combining power and low-level wiring inside one jacket simplifies cabinet layouts and shortens installation time on moving axes and stationary machinery. This arrangement also helps keep related motor connections in one routing path, which can reduce clutter in cable carriers and fixed ducts.
Three power conductors with a cross-section of 25.0 mm² limit voltage drop on long runs. Their copper exhibits a resistance of 0.78 ?/km, which helps estimate voltage drop and heat generation over cable length. A circular jacket sets the overall diameter at 29.8 mm, so the cable fits common drag-chain channels. The insulation system permits an operating voltage of 600 V according to UL, covering most low-voltage servo drives. The outer sheath is PUR, giving abrasion and oil resistance needed on production lines. Two twisted control pairs of 1.5 mm² are included for brake coils or thermal sensors, and the cable can bend to 7.5 D in flexible installation without damaging the cores. The combination of power and auxiliary conductors supports compact routing where brake or temperature circuits must follow the motor cable.
Additional characteristics support reliable life on gantries and conveyors. The orange finish specified as RAL 2003 increases visibility in cable trays and along machine frames. Continuous conductor temperature may reach 80 °C, so operating current must stay within the cable's thermal limits during sustained motion. When the cable is clamped in fixed ducts, the minimum bending radius tightens to 5xD, reducing space requirements without stressing the cores. A Total Shield made of tinned copper braid encases all elements, limiting electromagnetic emission toward nearby feedback or fieldbus lines. The auxiliary wires can share the same route as the motor conductors, which helps reduce the need for separate runs in tightly packed installations.
