RKL4558 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The RKL4558 motor power cable is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the RKL Motor Power Cables series. It supplies three-phase power and auxiliary signals between an inverter and a synchronous or asynchronous motor in moving machine axes. The cable is intended for drag-chain routing, so it supports frequent motion without compromising insulation or shielding integrity. It is used where motor power and supporting conductors need to share the same moving cable path. This makes it suitable for packaging lines, gantry robots, and other automated equipment.

The cable is rated for a service life of 5 million bending cycles when it flexes inside a chain. For static cabinet segments, the minimum bend radius is 5 x D, while dynamic sections require 7.5 x D to reduce conductor fatigue during repeated motion. Conductor resistance is 4.95 ?/km at 20 °C, which helps limit voltage drop on longer runs. The design uses four power conductors along with 2 x 1.0 mm² and 2 x 1.5 mm² control conductors for brake or temperature signals. This layout supports power transmission and common auxiliary functions without adding another cable to the drag chain. With a capacitance of 0.8 nF/m, the cable maintains stable electrical behavior with high-switching-frequency inverters.

Mechanical protection and visibility are provided by a RAL 2003 (orange) outer jacket made from PUR (adhesion-free, matte) material that resists oils and weld spatter. Under fixed installation, the copper conductors may operate continuously up to 90 °C, while flexible motion applications are limited to a lower temperature to reduce insulation aging. The cable has an overall diameter of 17.0 mm, so cable trays, glands, and carrier clips can be sized accurately. Its circular construction also helps it route cleanly through moving cable carriers and fixed cabinet entries, while the orange jacket improves visual identification in dense wiring bundles.
