RKL4448 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The RKL4448 motor power cable is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RKL Motor Power Cables series. It is engineered to supply three-phase drive current from a cabinet-mounted inverter to a moving servo motor, so it forms part of the energy chain in automated transfer lines, pick-and-place gantries, and other axes that demand continual flexing. The cable supports coordinated motion by preserving electrical insulation and mechanical stability under repeated drag-chain loading.

In continuous operation, the cable carries phase and protective-earth conductors with a cross-section of 10.0 mm², giving adequate ampacity for medium-power servo drives while limiting voltage drop along lengthy cable runs. A molded outer diameter of 22.2 mm sets the cable clamping requirements and contributes to reliable strain relief inside drag chains. Copper loop resistance is 1.91 ?/km at 20 °C, and this value allows accurate calculation of I²R losses. During travel, the chain can flex down to a dynamic bending radius of 7.5 × D, so repeated motion does not overstress the jacket. The cable can follow axes that accelerate at up to 10 m/s² without conductor migration or jacket tearing, and its distributed capacitance remains at 1.0 nF/m to help limit inverter switching currents.

For installation and storage, the cable tolerates ambient temperatures from -30 to +40 °C when laid in a fixed position and from -20 to +40 °C while in motion, so the same assembly can be routed through cold machinery zones and heated enclosures without derating. Mechanical life is demonstrated by 5 million flex cycles measured on the specified drag-chain test radius. A static bend of 5 × D should be maintained to preserve conductor geometry. The matte, adhesion-free sheath is molded from PUR, a material chosen for abrasion resistance and oil compatibility, while its RAL 2003 orange color enhances visibility inside the cable track. The same temperature range also applies during warehouse storage.
