RKL4418 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The RKL4418 is a motor power cable manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and delivered as part of the RKL Motor Power Cables series. It routes drive output to synchronous or induction motors in industrial automation systems while also carrying low-level sensor or brake signals, allowing a single multi-core line to service moving axes. The design supports installation in cable tracks, so the assembly can travel with gantries, pick-and-place heads, or other reciprocating equipment.

The cable contains four power cores sized at 4x25.0 mm², providing sufficient copper cross-section for high continuous current. Line losses are limited by a conductor resistance of 0.78 ?/km, so voltage drop remains low over typical machine distances. Two paired control circuits of 2x(2x1.5) mm² are included for temperature sensors, brakes, or holding relays, reducing the need for separate harnesses. A Total Shield encloses all conductors, attenuating electromagnetic interference between the motor inverter and adjacent signal cables. The overall diameter measures 29.8 mm, a dimension used to select glands, clamps, and drag-chain dividers.

The outer jacket is molded from PUR, a material that resists oil, coolant, and abrasion inside machining centers. Its surface is colored RAL 2003 orange for rapid identification of energized motor wiring. The cable can endure conductor temperatures up to 90 °C without loss of insulation integrity, aligning with drive duty cycles that generate elevated thermal loads. Installation in continuously moving energy chains is permitted; the minimum flexing bend radius is 7.5 × D, while fixed routing requires only 5 × D. The cable is suitable for packaging lines, material-handling robots, and other high-cycle axes that use drag chains.
