RKL4416 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The RKL4416 is a motor power cable supplied by Bosch Rexroth Indramat in the RKL Motor Power Cables series. It carries the inverter output to the motor and returns control signals over two shielded pairs, making it a combined power and feedback harness. By integrating all required conductors into a single jacket, the cable simplifies wiring of linear axes, pick-and-place modules, and similar automation assemblies where compact routing and drag-chain compatibility are important. This combined layout reduces the number of separate cable runs between the drive and the motor and keeps routing paths more compact in confined machine spaces.

In fixed routing, the cable maintains a minimum bending radius of 5 x D, allowing installation in control cabinets without exceeding conductor stress. Under repeated flexing in cable tracks, the limit increases to 7.5 x D to protect the insulation during motion. The multi-core layout of 4x10.0 mm² + 2x(1.0 mm²)StC + 2x(1.5 mm²)StC separates power and control conductors, which reduces crosstalk and supports orderly cable routing. Each power conductor has a cross-section of 10.0 mm², which supports standard drive ratings while limiting voltage drop over distance. A jacket in RAL 2003 (orange) helps identify motor cabling on the factory floor, and the matte PUR sheath resists oil, abrasion, and welding sparks while remaining adhesion-free for easy removal from cable trays.

At 20 °C, the copper conductors present a loop resistance of 1.91 Ohm/km, which can be used to estimate resistive losses in long cable runs. The distributed capacitance is 1.0 nF/m, so high-frequency inverter pulses produce moderate charging currents. The cable is approved for drag-chain use, but it is not suited for torsional movement, so rotating axes require a different cable type. This limitation makes the cable appropriate for linear and planar motion systems rather than applications with continuous twisting.
