RKG0055 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The RKG0055 encoder cable is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RKG Encoder Cables series. It is a finished interconnect that carries differential encoder signals between motor feedback devices and drive controllers in automated assemblies such as pick-and-place axes or gantry stages. The assembly combines mechanical flexibility with electrical shielding so feedback pulses reach the controller without timing errors or noise. This supports accurate speed and position feedback during closed-loop motion, especially where axes reverse direction frequently or operate with rapid acceleration.

The cable is rated for 5,000,000 bending cycles and can endure repeated flexing before conductor performance degrades. It is a ready-made cable assembly, so the sheath is stripped, the drain layers are trimmed, and strain relief is crimped at the factory to simplify installation. One termination uses the keyed RGS1711 connector, and the opposite end has an RGS0008 plug for direct connection between compatible Indramat motors and drive ports. During motion in a carrier, the conductor bundle must not exceed a bend radius tighter than 7.5 × D. When the cable is laid in a fixed tray, the minimum bend radius is 4 × D. Keeping within these radius limits helps prevent insulation stress and supports stable signal transmission during repeated motion.

Conductor insulation can safely reach 80 °C, allowing continuous service near warm servo housings. A highly visible Orange (RAL 2003) jacket makes the cable easy to identify in crowded panels and along machine routing paths. The PUR outer layer provides abrasion, oil, and microbe resistance for machining or packaging lines, and it also withstands repeated contact with drag-chain surfaces. The cable is halogen-free to limit corrosive gases during a fire, contains no silicone to preserve paint finish compatibility, and is approved for drag-chain operation so rapid acceleration does not compromise shielding.
