RKG0049 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The RKG0049 is a flexible feedback cable produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RKG Encoder Cables series. It serves as the signal link between a motor-mounted encoder and the controller, transmitting position data so the drive can close its servo loop with low latency. By matching the mechanical requirements of moving machine axes, this cable supports EC, ES, and ENS encoder variants in automated assembly stations, machining centers, and material-handling lines.

With a sheath diameter of 10.0 mm, the conductor bundle accommodates twisted-pair signal lines and a shield while remaining slim enough for standard drag-chain carriers. The design tolerates a dynamic bend radius of 7.5 × D, meaning the cable may curve to 75 mm without excess stress, and it can rest in a stationary loop down to a 4 × D radius for tight cabinet routing. Fatigue life is rated at 5,000,000 bending cycles, so repeated traverses at high acceleration do not compromise signal integrity. Factory-installed connectors simplify installation: an angular RGS0003 plug mates with the motor side and a straight RGS0008 plug interfaces with the drive card. These keyed plastic shells provide strain relief and maintain correct pin orientation for differential encoder channels. Storage temperatures from -40 °C to 80 °C permit warehousing without climate control.

Thermal limits support operation up to 80 °C and down to -40 °C, allowing the assembly to remain flexible in refrigerated zones or next to warm spindle housings. An inline service coupler, the REG0011, can be inserted if mid-span extension or condition-monitoring hardware is required. During long shutdowns, the insulation compound maintains dielectric strength. Stable insulation also helps preserve accurate encoder signal transmission when the cable returns to operation.
