RKG0047 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The RKG0047 cable is a ready-made feedback lead manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RKG Encoder Cables series. It serves as the dedicated connection between the motor-mounted encoder and the drive controller, carrying position and speed data required for closed-loop motion control in automated machinery. This signal path lets the drive compare commanded motion with actual encoder feedback so the axis can maintain accurate position and stable speed control during repeated cycles. The preassembled harness uses a fixed pinout that helps reduce wiring errors during installation.

Its flex performance is rated for 5,000,000 bending cycles, and dynamic routing may follow curves down to a radius of 7.5 × D without damage. When permanently laid, the minimum bend radius is 4 × D. At the controller end, the cable leaves the housing through twin angles of 2 × 45° to relieve strain on the board connector. Signal pins terminate in a 15-pin D-Sub shell that mates directly with Rexroth drive controllers, and the contacts are crimped rather than soldered to maintain vibration resistance. The cable has fifteen conductors in total, arranged for differential transmission of encoder channels across moving machine sections.

On the motor side, feedback signals transition to a Mini-DIN 8-Pin interface housed inside the Terminal Box RGK3102. The cable operates in ambient temperatures down to -20 °C and can be stored at temperatures up to 80 °C. A fixed conductor assignment helps prevent wiring errors, and shield continuity extends through both connectors to help keep encoder pulses free from electromagnetic interference. Continuous shielding is useful where the cable runs near motor leads, switching devices, or cabinet wiring that can introduce electrical noise. The assembly is suitable for packaging machinery, pick-and-place robots, and other motion platforms that experience frequent handling and seasonal temperature variation.
