RKG0040 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The RKG0040 encoder cable is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the RKG Encoder Cables series. It is intended to connect motor-mounted encoders to IndraDrive or Diax controllers, transmitting differential position signals and low-voltage power in demanding industrial automation. The assembly supports dynamic machine axes that travel within cable carriers, maintaining signal integrity while the axis accelerates, reverses, and indexes during repetitive production cycles. By integrating feedback and supply conductors in one flexible sheath, it simplifies wiring and reduces cabinet bulk.

The cable is rated for 5,000,000 bending cycles, indicating how many flex motions it can withstand in a drag chain before conductors or shields fatigue. The cable uses INK0448 bulk cable, so the electrical impedance and shielding geometry match Bosch Rexroth encoder interfaces. An overall diameter of 8.8 mm allows installation through narrow energy chains without excessive fill. On the controller side, the molded INS0769/L01 connector mates with standard Indramat drive sockets, while the opposite end carries an INS0753/C01 plug that fits the encoder housing. Internally, the bundle contains four twisted signal pairs of 0.25 mm² plus two supply conductors of 0.5 mm², an arrangement that separates high-speed data from power to reduce crosstalk.

For moving axes, the outer jacket color is Orange (RAL 2003), which remains easy to identify under shop lighting. The sheath is made from PUR, providing abrasion resistance and resistance to oils commonly found in lubrication systems. In fixed installation, the minimum bend radius is 5 × D, while during continuous motion it must be held to 7.5 × D to prevent conductor stress. The cable is approved for drag chain service, and its supply cores retain a 2 × 0.5 mm² cross-section across the full length to support stable sensor power at maximum stroke.
