RKG0038 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The RKG0038 is a factory-terminated encoder cable manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RKG Encoder Cables series. It carries position feedback signals between a servo motor and a drive controller in industrial automation systems. The cable helps maintain signal integrity during dynamic machine movement so closed-loop motion axes can hold accurate positioning and stable speed regulation. This type of cable is used where repeated axis travel can disturb weak feedback signals if shielding, grounding, or connector fit are inconsistent. Because it arrives with matched connectors already installed, it can be routed through cable trays without field crimping, which helps preserve consistent shielding and grounding.

The cable has a life rating of 5,000,000 bending cycles, which supports frequent reciprocating motion in gantry or pick-and-place axes without conductor fatigue. In fixed installation, a minimum bend radius of 5xD protects the cores from compression, while moving applications need at least 7.5xD so the jacket can flex without rupturing. The control cores are insulated for up to 300 V AC, which matches the voltage category used by many Rexroth encoder interfaces. A PUR outer sheath resists cutting oils and remains flexible at low temperatures. These operating limits help the cable tolerate continuous motion while protecting the internal conductors from premature wear.

The cable uses bulk cable code INK0532 and an M23 interface at both ends. On the controller side, the plug is M23 (17-pin, pin) with connector insert INS0649, while the motor side uses M23 (17-pin, socket) with insert INS0379. The sheath is colored Orange (RAL 2003) so feedback wiring is easier to distinguish from power conductors on the machine. Using M23 terminations on both ends supports direct connection to matching feedback ports without additional adapters. The cable is approved for drag chain installation, allowing use in continuous-flex carriers within its rated bending limits.
