RKG0021 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

Bosch Rexroth Indramat builds the RKG0021 as part of the RKG Encoder Cables series. This flexible cable carries differential encoder signals and auxiliary control power between a feedback device and a drive controller in automated machinery. By maintaining controlled impedance and shielding, the assembly preserves accurate position data during rapid axis motion, and its mechanical design suits routing through moving cable tracks in pick-and-place modules, gantry axes, and packaging lines. The cable is intended for the continuous motion cycles commonly required in servo systems used in factory automation.

The electrical core consists of 4x2x0.25 mm² + 2x0.5 mm² twisted pairs that provide separate differential channels for incremental signals and a heavier pair for auxiliary voltage. On the drive side, an M23 10-pin male connector is factory-molded, while the encoder end terminates on a field-installable 10-pin clamp terminal, which provides a detachable interface at the motor. The signal pair insulation is rated for 300 V, allowing the control wires to share multi-cable ducts without special isolation. Mechanically, the cable withstands 5,000,000 bending cycles and is suitable for drag-chain carriers, so feedback integrity is maintained during continuous reciprocating motion.

Dynamic routing is supported by a maximum permissible acceleration of 10 m/s², provided that the carrier radius stays above 7.5 D during movement and 5 D when fixed. The outer sheath is made of PUR, a material chosen for abrasion resistance, coolant tolerance, and halogen-free composition for many assembly areas. A bright RAL 2003 (Orange) jacket aids visual identification inside machine enclosures, and the overall diameter measures 8.8 mm, allowing multiple feedback and power cables to fit in compact energy chains. The flexible jacket also helps the cable route cleanly in enclosed machine spaces where several moving leads run side by side.
