RKG0020 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The RKG0020 is an encoder feedback cable manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RKG Encoder Cables series. The cable links position transducers on servo motors to drive controllers so that speed or angle data reaches the control rack without loss. Within automated lines, it serves as the flexible segment between moving axes and fixed cabinets, allowing repeatable signal transfer while tolerating continual mechanical motion. Its design focuses on durability inside cable tracks and compatibility with standard Rexroth drive connectors.

The cable is qualified for 5,000,000 bending cycles, showing that the conductors and insulation can withstand long repetitive strokes typical of pick-and-place gantries. During dynamic motion, the assembly supports a minimum flex radius of 7.5 × D, where D is the overall diameter. The cable has an outer diameter of 8.8 mm, making routing through narrow drag-chain chambers straightforward. Control conductors withstand 300 V, so low-level encoder signals remain within insulation limits. Power for auxiliary electronics is carried by two 2 × 0.5 mm² supply cores, which helps keep voltage drop low over common machine lengths.

Electrical terminations are standardized: the controller end uses a 15-pin D-Sub plug that mates with Rexroth drive interfaces, while the motor end provides a 10-pin clamp terminal block located in the feedback housing. Eight data conductors are organized as 4 × (2 × 0.25 mm²) twisted pairs, which reduces crosstalk and helps maintain the differential signal quality required by high-resolution encoders. A fixed-installation temperature limit of 90 °C helps the PUR jacket and insulation retain dielectric strength near hot motor flanges. The cable also includes a total shield and an adhesion-free, matte PUR jacket in RAL 2003 orange, and it is suitable for continuous motion inside drag chains.
