The RKG0017 encoder cable is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RKG Encoder Cables series. It is intended for servo-drive installations that require stable feedback transmission and frequent flexing. By carrying differential encoder signals between a motor feedback device and a controller, the cable supports closed-loop positioning in pick-and-place systems, packaging stations, and articulated robots. In these systems, clean feedback signals allow the drive to correct position and speed errors in real time. The cable is therefore suited to installations where repeated acceleration, deceleration, and directional changes place constant demands on the feedback path.
The cable is rated for 2,000,000 bending cycles, so it is suited for applications with continuous movement. During motion, the cable requires a minimum bend radius of 10 x D to protect the conductors while it travels in energy chains. In fixed routing, the minimum bend radius is 6 x D because the conductors are no longer exposed to repeated flexing. These bend limits help reduce stress on the insulation and on the fine conductor strands during repeated travel. The assembly uses INK0720 bulk cable for abrasion resistance and shielding, and the encoder side uses crimp socket contacts for a secure connection. That is important in cable carriers, where tight routing can shorten service life if the cable is bent too sharply.
At the controller end, the harness uses a 15-pin D-Sub connector with pin contacts that mates with standard encoder interfaces. The encoder side uses a 12-pole insert, while the controller plug provides 15 positions for signal, reference, and diagnostic circuits within the shielded assembly. The controller plug uses solder pin contacts, which create a stable electrical connection between the conductors and the connector pins. The shielded conductor arrangement helps limit interference from nearby power wiring and switching devices. This is useful in servo systems, where feedback quality affects position stability and repeatability during repeated machine motion.
