The RHB2-021DDB hybrid encoder cable is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the RHB2 Encoder Cables series. Designed for servo axes, the assembly combines power conductors and feedback cores in a single sheath, simplifying installation between motors and drives in automated machinery. By merging these functions, the product minimizes cabinet space and reduces wiring errors while maintaining signal integrity required for high-resolution encoder feedback. Its role in industrial automation is to deliver both supply current and position data to motion controllers so that closed-loop regulation remains precise.

Within that sheath, the conductors use a hybrid cable design, meaning power and communication elements share the same outer jacket while electromagnetic interference stays within Rexroth limits. The copper cores have a cross-section of 1.5 mm², providing enough conductive area to keep voltage drop low over typical machine-panel distances. When fully loaded, the cable can carry up to 15.6 A, so servo motors rated for similar phase currents can be powered without additional feeders. Moving applications are supported by a minimum dynamic bend radius of 7.5xD, which protects insulation during continuous motion, while static routing inside cabinets is allowed down to 5xD for tighter cable management.

The cable is rated for 5,000,000 bending cycles, showing suitability for energy-chain or gantry axes that run through long production schedules. At the motor end, an S (M23) coded plug mates directly with the M23 Hybrid receptacle, eliminating separate feedback and power plugs. On the drive side, the cable is factory-terminated for ctrlX DRIVE controllers, so no field crimping is required and shielding continues through the connector backshell. This arrangement keeps the connection path between the drive and motor compact by using one main cable run.
