The RG2-500ABB encoder cable is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the RG2 Encoder Cables series. It serves as the dedicated feedback link between a servo motor encoder and the controller, transmitting analog position, reference, and supply signals with low impedance. Within industrial automation cells such as machine tools, pick-and-place gantries, and packaging modules, the cable closes the motion feedback loop so that the drive can adjust current and velocity in real time and maintain positional accuracy over long duty cycles.

The RG2-500ABB follows a Basic conductor and shielding layout that simplifies routing in crowded cable trays yet meets electromagnetic compatibility limits for feedback lines. It belongs to the 2nd Generation of Rexroth feedback wiring, so its pin assignment and jacket compound match newer IndraDrive controllers. Each copper core has a cross-section of 0.50 mm², providing low voltage drop over typical axis lengths. For fixed routing inside a cabinet, the recommended static radius drops to 4 × D, minimizing footprint without overstressing the conductors.
