The RG2-002ABT is an encoder cable produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RG2 Encoder Cables series. It transfers position feedback from servo motors to drive controllers and links analog sensing elements to motion control units in automated machinery. With shielded cores and tight electrical tolerances, it maintains consistent signal quality during dynamic machine cycles. Its compact routing flexibility and industrial durability make it suitable for multi-axis assemblies where accurate real-time feedback is required for closed-loop control.

The cable has a torsion-capable construction that allows repeated twisting of ±180° along its axis without signal loss, making it appropriate for rotary tables or robotic wrists. As a second-generation member of the family, it uses improved conductor insulation that reduces capacitance compared with earlier builds. A rugged PUR (Orange RAL 2003) outer jacket resists oils and weld spatter while providing easy visual identification in the cabinet. For data exchange, it supports the Hiperface encoder interface so the drive can read absolute position and analog sine-cosine tracks through the same cable. Insulation resistance is rated at 20 MΩ/km, which helps keep leakage currents low even in high-humidity environments, and both power and signal pairs are rated for 300 V operation.

For stationary cable tray routing, the smallest permitted bend radius is 5×D, while moving carrier loops must observe a 7.5×D radius to reduce conductor fatigue. The factory-crimped M17 motor plug mates directly with Rexroth feedback modules, and the cable keeps a sheath diameter of 8.5 mm for dense bundle layouts through energy chains. This compact diameter helps when several feedback cables must pass through the same carrier. The cable uses analog cabling for AS/AM or BS/BM transducers and combines position signals with supply cores in one screened line.
