The RG2-002AAT is an encoder cable produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and supplied in the RG2 Encoder Cables series. It serves as the dedicated link between a motor-mounted encoder and the associated drive controller, carrying digital position data used for closed-loop motion control. The cable is intended for dynamic routing in industrial machinery where feedback lines must keep signal quality stable during constant movement. Because encoder communication is sensitive to electrical noise and repeated flexing, the cable layout is intended to preserve reliable data transfer while the axis is running.

In continuously moving axes, the cable endures up to 2,000,000 bending cycles, helping maintain insulation and shield performance over prolonged duty. A torsion cable design allows the conductors to twist around their own axis, which suits rotary tables and robots that rotate instead of only flexing. During motion, it can be bent to a minimum 12 x D dynamic bending radius, while fixed routing requires only a 5 x D static bending radius. Each signal pair uses 0.50 mm² conductors for low-voltage transmission with controlled impedance. At the motor side, a factory-molded M17 motor connector locks to the encoder housing and carries both power and differential data channels through one sealed interface. That combination supports moving applications where the cable must bend and twist without interrupting encoder signals.

This cable is classified as 2nd Generation, indicating updated insulation materials for use with newer drive platforms. The assembly uses a digital construction that matches the encoder output stage and helps limit crosstalk along the run. This arrangement is useful where the feedback path must remain stable beside other moving machine wiring during repeated acceleration and reversing. Its double cable connection keeps feedback lines separate from power conductors to reduce noise, and the direct connection type allows installation without intermediate junctions or adapter boxes.
